Post-Operative Instruction After
LAUP
(Laser Assisted Uvulaopalatoplasty)
To Post-Operative Patients:
These are some brief instructions
that should answer most of your questions during your post-operative
period. We have a 24-hour answering service that will notify
Dr. Payton and/or Dr. Murry or Dr. Roediger after hours regarding
questions, concerns or emergencies. The office number is 797-5753.

The doctor will
provide you with 10 days worth of antibiotic. |
| 2. |
It is recommended
that you gargle for times a day with lightly salted water. You
may add 20% Hydrogen Peroxide. |
| 3. |
Avoid any real spicy,
salty, or acid foods. Otherwise, you may eat what is tolerated. |
| 4. |
Take Aleve, 2 tablets
2-3 times a day as a baseline for pain. |
| 5. |
The doctor will
provide you with a prescription for a narcotic pain reliever
to be used on an as need basis. Do not be surprised if your pain
is worse 5-7 days after the procedure. |
| 6. |
Notify the doctor
immediately of any bleeding. |
