Post-Operative Nasal Surgery

To Post-Operative Patients:

These are some brief instructions that should answer most of your questions during your post-operative period. We have a 24-hour answering service that will notify Dr. Payton and/or Dr. Murry or Dr. Roediger after hours regarding questions, concerns or emergencies. The office number is 797-5753.

At the time of discharge, go home and rest. You will need to
recuperate for approximately one week following your nasal
surgery. This means no heavy lifting.
You may eat a regular diet.
You will be more comfortable with your head elevated at least on two pillows.
Ice packs may be soothing if applied along the side of your nose. This will also help minimize swelling.
The drip pad may be changed as frequently as necessary.
Leave the packing in place.
You will be given prescriptions for an antibiotic and pain medication. Please take these as directed.
Notify our office if:

-

There is an increase in pain

-

Your temperature is greater than 101

-

Bright red bleeding occurs
